Jalapeno Honey Butter Corn- this milk boiled corn is wonderfully sweet and a little spicy. It’s a recipe you’ll want to use all summer long.

Ingredients Needed
- 1 stick salted butter
- Honey– adds extra sweetness.
- Milk– creates a milk bath which further sweetens the corn.
- Jalapenos– add a little kick to contrast the sweetness.
Boiling Corn In Milk Heightens Its Sweetness.
Boiling corn in milk is a great way to make sweet corn even sweeter. The carbohydrates in the milk break down and add sweetness. You don’t need to use a lot of milk. One cup added to a pot of water is plenty.

How Long To Boil Corn
How long you cook corn is mainly a personal preference. The freshness of your corn is another factor. Super fresh corn really doesn’t need to be cooked long at all. Honestly, it tastes delicious uncooked. Older corn benefits from being cooked a little more. You can boil fresh corn for as little as 5 minutes. Some people like to boil corn for as long as 12 to 15 minutes, but you risk it getting water logged when cooked this long. Plus I find it starts to lose flavor after 8 minutes.
How To Serve Jalapeno Honey Butter Corn
Once removing the corn from the milk bath, season it to taste with salt and pepper and add a little more butter if desired.
Recommended Equipment
- Large Pot– this Pasta Pot has a pour spout that works really well for this recipe.
- Tongs– I use tongs for so many things and they are especially useful for removing corn from the milk bath.
- Corn Holders– keep your fingers clean when eating corn on the cob with these colorful corn holders.
Add Extra Heat
Sometimes jalapenos don’t provide enough heat on their own. For extra heat, add a teaspoon or two of crushed red pepper flakes to the milk bath.
Substitutions
If you don’t want to use honey, you can add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Half-and-half can be used instead of milk.
